My Dad is set to go in for his bone marrow transplant on January 9th! The donor got approved and things are scheduled. We are so happy about this and I can't wait for him to get all better.

So Donor 3 can't do it because she is under 100 pounds. Number 2 might be a possibility still so they are running tests on her. They also found a 4th donor. So hopefully we will find out about 2 this week and 4 next week. Keeping my fingers crossed that one works out and it looks like he will be going in to the hospital in December if one of them ( Read more... )

Scratch that, donor 2 is having problems so his surgery got canceled and things are delayed again.

My Dad will be going into the hospital on Halloween. He goes for radiation for a week two weeks from now and then checks into the hospital on Halloween for the whole process. He will be there 4-6 weeks. They think he will be the whole 6 weeks because there is more risk of his body rejecting it because the donor is a woman. But we are hoping for the ( Read more... )

My Dad's surgery got delayed for about a month. At first it was because his spleen was enlarged and he needs to get radiation on it. Now on top of that the first donor can't do it anymore because of health complications. So now they are contacting the next donor in line and hope to get him into surgery by late October/early November.

My dad goes in to the hospital next week for a month! It was longer than we thought, but they want to make sure he stays healthy after the surgery. They originally said he would only be there 2-3 weeks, but maybe its for the better. Also, they said he would be home about 2 months, now they are saying 5. So my Dad's blood transfusions and chemo are not doing a ton, so they are trying to move my Dad's surgery up to this month! It will be either be this month or in Oct. but it will be amazing to get him better ASAP!

Good news! They found 3 perfect matches for my dad! He will be having surgery probably in the beginning of Oct. These matches meet 10 out of the 10 criteria for a perfect match. Our family is so excited and looking forward to my dad beating this!
