Paris Party! (Saturday, but posted early by request)

Aug 03, 2012 19:09

Zacharias loved parties, especially when he was throwing them. Granted, that meant he wasn't going to be drinking nearly as much as he wanted, but someone had to make sure no one blew his house up. He'd delegated bartenders to Daphne, a fair bit of decorating to Mandy, and made Megan entertain him. He sort of felt bad asking them to do anything ( Read more... )

Daphne had arrived early to make sure that the bartenders she sent over were up to her own standards. She wasn't going to let some paid help ruin her reputation if they were slacking off in any way. Every one had to be in jacket with cuffs buttoned and a smile on every face.

She was happy to see everyone busy prepping drinks, getting the other party goers properly tipsy. Well, tipsy for the time being. It was only a matter of time until someone got ahead of themselves and was puking in the antique vases in the formal living room.

"Pansy...are you seeing this right?" she asked, laughing. She had settled in with a glass of her signature champagne, people watching with Pansy. But as she scanned the room she caught sight of Riah who was making faces their way. "Our host is looking ridiculous."

Shifting her weight on her five inch heels, Daphne flipped her hair over her shoulder. She felt slightly exposed in her outfit but it was exactly what she had wanted it to be - extreme.

Pansy happened to be scowling at Hannah Abbott. Unfortunately for Hannah, she was the first person to be lacking an 'elite' look by Pansy's standards, so she was getting a rather rude earful.

Sighing in disgust, Pansy turned around, only to catch sight of Riah.

She couldn't believe her eyes. "Is he out of his fucking mind?" she replied to Daphne, giving a laugh that was obviously total mockery. "Is he for real?"

"He certainly is out of his mind," she said, sipping her champagne. There was something about Riah that kept Daphne interested. He was definitely different from most of the guys she knew.

"No manners what so ever." Though, Daphne supposed that was part of his charm. You never knew what he would do next.

Pansy scoffed, turning back towards Daphne. "Whatever. Don't you think he's trying really hard? He said this wasn't going to be elite, but that's pretty much impossible with this much money."

Although, the excessive nature of the townhouse was pretty impressive.

Parvati's escape had been all thanks to Lavender's brother Alex. She'd snuck out without having to use floo, thanks to Alex's ability to apparate.

It hadn't been easy getting out quietly, but she left a note about being at Lavender's just in case they noticed her absence.

"I'm so glad I'm here," Parvati gushed, looking around the apartment. "Where are the boys?"

She turned to Lavender expectantly, assuming Lav knew where Roger at least was. And where Roger was, Eddie was sure to follow.

Lavender was more than thrilled that Parvati actually snuck out - and more thrilled that her brother Alex was there to help. He had been so nice to her since the news came out about the deaths at the Quidditch World Cup. Maybe because he realized how close his own sister came to being apart of those names.

"They probably went off to do shots somewhere..." she said, craning her neck to look for them. But there were already so many people there it was hard to see over the crowd. "Maybe the went to get us drinks...but that's wishful thinking."

Parvati couldn't see either of the boys, but when a tray of drinks went by she grabbed two glasses off of it and passed one to Lavender. "Cheers! To my night of freedom!"

After the clink, she took a generous sip, enjoying the bubbly feel as it went down.

"What is this?"

It must have been some sort of champagne. Riah had really gone all out.

Lavender didn't think twice and took a long sip of her drink. It tasted different from most drinks that she was used to.

"I think mine is a strawberry vodka soda," she said, noticing that it had a pink tint to it. Definitely fancier than most parties they went to. "It's delicious"

That was it. Megan's mind was made-up. She was going to form some sort of plot to marry Riah and then live in this Parisian townhouse for the rest of her life. To say that she was in love with her best friend's living quarters would be a vast understatement. Megan had only been there for a few days and she was absolutely certain that she belonged there ( ... )

If Zacharias was anything like the other purebloods, especially the ones that threw their family money around the way he did, he never would have been friends with Megan. Fortunately, he just liked people. It worked out for the best that way since Megan was his favorite person ever.

Snatching a drink from a passing tray, Zacharias cracked up and flung an arm around her shoulders. Things like this were the reasons Megan was his absolute favorite. He took a drink and wrinkled his nose.

"Merlin, no. That's me trying to make Parkinson's head explode. I think she finds me endearing but refuses to admit it. It's hilarity at its finest."

"Good, because I was going to have to cut you off already if you were making sexy eyes at Pansy Parkinson," Megan joked and then cast her gaze to Pansy who was across the room with Daphne. "Wow, they are quite the pair aren't they?"

Somehow she had missed the tray of drinks this time around and frowned at her bad luck. Fortunately, another would be by soon enough.

"You're a hit," she grinned up at Riah and squeezed him around the middle with the arm she had thrown around him. "Not that I'm surprised."

"They're... Something." Zacharias didn't like to have opinions on people. If he had opinions then he had to get involved and that took a lot of effort. Instead, he played things very loose and casual.

That being said, Daphne was still fun. He liked her even though he wasn't sure why she bothered talking to him. Probably the money; it was usually the money. Parkinson was just a giant annoyance who was fun enough to pester that he couldn't bring himself to get too bothered. He had too much fun baiting her to get too bent out of shape when she tried to retaliate.

Laughing, Zacharias pulled Megan closer to him and handed her his drink. He'd grab another one later. "I rock. People love me. This is why I throw these things." Being in high demand for one night usually meant he was in a good mood for weeks.

Being a good host was a lot of fucking work that Zacharias got bored with quickly. His attention span made it difficult for him to actually bother making sure people were having a good time, but he completely owned the part about circulating and being available.

He'd hung onto Megan for a while, pandered to a couple girls he'd hooked up with, confiscated a set of candlesticks from a pair of fourth year Slytherins (and he really didn't want to know what they'd been planning to do with those

Lavender had parted ways with Parvati to go find Roger. He seemed to have completely disappeared which was really strange. It left her alone to her own thoughts in such a crowded room. Just when she was getting completely frustrated, Riah snapped her out of it.

"Is this for me?" she asked, taking the drink and offering him a genuine smile. It looked delicious. "Thanks, Riah. You didn't have to do that."

"Sure, I did," he shrugged like it was nothing. "I don't let pretty girls go empty handed at my parties."

He took a sip of his own and grinned around the rim of the glass. "But I'm sure you remember."

Lavender opened her mouth but found herself slightly too flustered to answer. Instead, she sipped her drink. It was as good as it looked and definitely helped calm her nerves. Riah always did have that kind of effect on her...but from what she saw, he did that to most girls.

"Yes, you've always taken care of me at your parties," she said finally.

It had been a few hours into the party and Daphne still hadn't seen Terry. To occupy her time she wandered through the party and somehow gotten separated from Pansy. But there were so many people, not even just from Hogwarts, here to keep her interested. And to keep her hands busy, Daphne made sure always to have a drink. It helped to know the bartenders.

"Riah, there you are!" she said, finding him as she wandered into one of the main spaces. After the party began to fill up they had gone their separate ways. She gave him a big smile, her head fuzzy from all the champagne.

"Gorgeous! I wondered where you disappeared to!" To be honest, Zacharias hadn't had much time to think about anyone in particular. He seemed to be pulled a thousand directions at once by more than a few people.

Thus, the reason he liked parties. Being the center of attention was the only place he knew how to be.

He looked her over and offered up a slow smirk. "Have I mentioned how hot you look? Because, yeah. Damn."

Daphne placed her free hand on her hip, unashamed of her revealing outfit. It was a different kind of confidence - usually Daphne thrived on her good manors and grace but tonight she just felt powerfully sexy.

"It seemed appropriate for this kind of party," she grinned. She quickly finished off what was in her cup then looked around for a bartender.

"But I would imagine you haven't had nearly enough to drink playing host! I want to fix that."

Zacharias laughed and tilted his head back. He shook his hair out of his eyes when he looked at her again.

"Trying to get my drunk? Makes me think you plan on getting me into trouble." Not that he minded, but he was known for finding his own trouble.
