I really like all your past "Sylar files" but this analysis, the explanation of why he "change" so fast in this season is very sensible. So you think Sylar will be redeemed at the end of this arc/season?
i like to think that he has a chance to be redeemed and there is possibility that he can become more like gabriel grey, but im sure that sylar will always be a part of him no matter what he does. redemption will not come easy and i think it will not be gained until he feels like he has actually earned it. i don't think it can happen in one season, but it can happen eventually
I agree with this so very much. You have a lot of insight- and I always felt like this, but you've worded it so much better. And I totally agree about your season 3 analysis at the end, as well. The Hard Part really shows why e acts the way he does, in the future.
thank you so much for that :]. this is such an amazing episode for me, and such a crucial one to the sylar character. i always go back to this episode when i look at sylar now
One of my favourite episodes ever! I love all the scenes with his mother and how it ended, omg! That was really really creepy when he painted with her blood!
Thank you SO MUCH for putting this up! I actually needed those scenes for some of my writing so I am really happy you posted this! :3 And your synopsis is very well put - I agree with you quite a lot on some of your points. I am SURE the old clock resembles himself too. BUT what I think is really poignant is when he says: "I fix watches" opposed to "I restore time-pieces" like he says to HRG when he's locked up *I think it's then anyway* That always gets me... T.T
that's a very good point there. when he faces HRG inside the cell and he clearly tells him that he restores time pieces, giving himself that air of importance. when he says this, you can see that he has a lot of confidence in himself as oppose to when he is with his mother and tells her that he fixes watches. just look at his face and demeanor when he says this, he looks almost defeated, like he came to realize the insignificance of what gabriel grey does with his life compared to the greatness he could achieve as sylar. when his mother tells hims about the guy who could get hims a job as an investment baker, sylar replies "i can't be an investment banker, he wouldn't even remember who i was". because to him, gabriel grey is so easily forgettable. but as sylar, he has the chance to be remembered forever, but in order to do that he would have to go all the way and allow himself to explode. so he tells his mother than maybe he doesn't have to be special, that he could be fine just living as a watchmaker, and of course, she tells him
( ... )
I thought that too; it's hard to describe - just his expression when he throws his glasses down and says: "I fix watches." It's poignant to me, like how you described it: he looks defeated and a little annoyed too - like he wants to leave that persona behind but there's still that side to him hidden away. I also thought it was eerily innocent when he says to her: "There’s a lot of things that I can do that you don’t know about..." It's almost like the Gabriel Gray innocence is there (like what we almost see in ep8 of season 3) but it's become kind of tainted(?) Anyway, it's nice to see fellow fans analysing and sharing their ideas from stuff in episodes! You've worded your theories very well! (^-^)V
