An "I am SO fucked" moment qweltor April 20 2005, 09:39:13 UTC

Either, 1) thief is sitting in lecture as the prof says that, his face pales, shits his pants and thinks, "OMG, I am SO fucked." Or,

2) Thief decided to lay low from lecture (ie, didn't go), watches the lecture webcast on Friday afternoon (or the weekend) after it's posted. Checks watch. "Shit! It's after 11:55am. The prof is gone for the weekend/week. I am SO fucked."

hes jsut trying to scare the person. all the thief needs to do is throw the computer in the dumpster and nothing will happen. unless they find his prints on it.

hahahahahaha!

it would have been so great to seem some super-nerdy kid stand up and run out of lecture, wailing.

seriously, though. why did the professor carry all that shit to lecture? couldn't he have another computer at home or in his office to leave it at?

i hope next lecture they show him getting busted! tune in to find out!

I was having the same problem. Thankfully, somebody else had the same issue and posted an MP3 of the audio, which I've mirrored here:

Hope this helps.

While this student is probably shitting in his pants, I wonder if this Professor just lost any chance to get a consutling job in the future now that he's the Professor that leaves data on an unsecured laptop in a room full of students instead of having a 'teaching' laptop and a 'research' laptop that stays secure considering all of that data he just talked about.

I think you're right, he will probably have a really hard time now

The professor sounds just as nervous as the student would be, and I bet he's in a lot more trouble than the student. Having to admit that you've got so much private data stored on a laptop without so much as even a password protecting it has got to be fun.

That's why the professor is doing such a 'hard sell.' I think the prof is more interested in getting the laptop back than the thief is in giving it back.
