Shake the Dust

Do you know the best part about living above a bar? There's always a subdued bass line going from about 3pm 'til 2am, and as the night goes on, you hear the occasional "whoo" or "ow!" (The good one, not the "oh shit that hurts!" one.) The sound is not obnoxious, nor is it particularly invasive, but should you decide to stay home on a Friday night, ( Read more... )

Yes, I think it's one of those things you just need time to work out, so there's no point in thinking about it too much and trying to force things. Good words.

I heard a rumor you might be coming up to visit Bellingham at some point! Any truth to that?

Hey buddy,

Generally not one to check up on my friends online profiles, I had not heard word of this. In standard MVF fashion, you seem to be handling it rationally and even-handed. Hope everything else is going well for you.

By the way, if youre interested and unaware, B-ham has a weekly poetry night where some good people go. I know Ryler goes there quite a bit. Last I heard this guy named Bob was running it. http://www.myspace.com/poetrynightdotorg

Thanks for that, actually. I was going to check it out, but I didn't want a shitty local poet to sour the taste left in my mouth from Thursday's show.

I'll probably end up there sooner than later.

Good thinking about the local poets. I saw Saul Williams last year, and two of his openers had me gagging. One of the pieces was about walking barefoot on the beach. Oh. My. God.

For an even more soul-maiming experience, watch the no-name poets at Village Books. "You were like a tree / in a forest / strong limbs / Why did you leave me?"

There are few things better than an amazing poet and nothing worse than a bad one.

Hi. Boring friday nights are A-OK. Afternoon naps are made of 90% win, and 10% awesomeness.

Welcome to my old man world. Mind the lawn.
