Puzzle Me This
Scott has a difficult time occupying himself. He isn't interested in TV or video games, etc. He gets stuck doing activities like clicking a deck of playing cards to hear the sound. Do You Know Where Your Tax Dollars Are?
My son receives services through the State of Colorado DDD system. The services are managed and paid for through our local Community Centered Board (CCB). In our case, Developmental Disabilities Resource Center (DDRC) is the CCB that manages Scott's case.

Adults with Autism
I'd like to recommend a book I just read. It's called "Families of Adults with Autism, Stories and Advice for the Next Generation" by Jane Johnson and Anne Van Rensselaer. Of course it is of great interest to me but I think it will interest anyone who knows someone with autism and/or their parents and siblings.

Statue Man or Help I'm Locked Out And Can't Get In!
We had a wonderful day today. Scott was up and in a happy mood. I had him showered, shaved, teeth brushed and dressed in 30 minutes. That's about as fast as it can get done unless you skip the shaving! I'm not getting up!
This is one of those days. Hard to describe to anyone who isn't a full-time care giver. Scott will not get out of bed. No way, no how. I tried several times and finally had his Dad go in and use the Dad voice. Scott just wiggled his foot. What will Scott do?
Scott "graduated" from high school in 2005. He was 21. After 17 years of going to school everyday, he now has nothing to do. We've tried the sheltered workshop setting available through our Community Centered Board. He hates it. It is loud, bright and busy.
