Death happens, as we like to say. And when I am paid for it, death happens more often.

[Filtered FROM: Drones, Conrad and Seychelles]To the man who assaulted my friend with Casimiro - Fin, I believe he called you? I gave your partner full warning of the consequences if he attacked Conrad, and as that did not stop him, I took that as an acceptance of my terms ( Read more... )

So it was Casimiro and his partner that attacked Conrad?

Indeed. Hopefully I have dissuaded or distracted them from a repeat performance.

I hope so, Conrad sounded like he was in pretty bad shape when I spoke to him.

But, ah, I don't mean to sound rude, but...is this a good idea? I-I mean, what if this doesn't dissuade them and it just pisses them off and they try to retaliate? Or attack Conrad again?

I have no idea. But left to their own devices, they would have the freedom to attack Conrad at their leisure, for any reason they chose, so not acting at all would not have changed much. If they do try to attack Conrad again, then they will probably do it in response to this, which at least makes their next attack more predictable.

You killed him?

I did...which, thanks to the strange workings of this town, is rather less severe than it sounds.

Well, yeah, and I would be lying if I didn't think it couldn't happen to a nicer guy. You know he's probably gonna be really pissed off when he wakes up tomorrow, right?

Quite probably, yes...even though he has no one to blame but himself, as I warned him of exactly what I would do if he chose to attack Conrad. But I am able to take care of myself, whereas Conrad...

Well, to put it as kindly as possible, fending for himself is not his strong suit.

I have no desire or intent to hinder your plans, Olivier, but I cannot simply ignore attacks on my friends for the convenience of them. Nor, I think, would you in my place.

Not to criticize the methods of a professional such as yourself, but... is this wise, Zevran?

Probably not, but I have a history of doing unwise things and living to tell the tale, yes?

And, as death is not permanent in Mayfield, I am guaranteed to do so again here, so why worry?

You do have the most uncanny luck... [She's heard some of those stories of yours, Zevran. How you're not dead already is a mystery of nature.]

I vaguely remember someone mentioning that fact before, but I still find it incredibly difficult to believe.

Believe it. I have died here once already, myself. If no one has introduced you to guns yet, be aware that they are very nasty things.

I really don't care what the fuck is goin' on but Christ, if I wanted a soap opera I'd turn the damn tv on.

You could always find something better to do than listen, my friend.
