Heh.

Today I cycled to work. Five miles, fairly flat, so no complaints. But snarks, oh yes. I was pondering the ridiculousness of the middle-aged white men who march around (ETA: the office) in cargo shorts and Tevas/Chacos/Keen/whatever-the-current trendy sandal is. I'd say I'm on the nearest bikes-only path one to four times a month. (My boyfriend is out there five times a week -- it's his commute.) It is OVERRUN with these middle-aged weekend warriors in spandex. I feel a bit like I stick out because I am wearing normal clothes. My instinct is to roll my eyes, but then I thought about it and decided that it's actually kind of awesome that people are out there getting exercise, even if I wouldn't make the choice to dress like Lance Armstrong (+ advertisements).

Good work on your boy's part! I'd like to get to 5X/week. And it is awesome that people are active. I mean, the surfboards ARE being used, yanno? Eye-rolling lately has meant I'm thinking really unkind thoughts. It's a bit disappointing - not the kind of person I want to be. So I sort of appreciate it when the object/s of derision rise above that (as these two old boys did!).
