Does Marcus get flung across the room if he walks on it? ;)P

No, since the batches only take an evening, instead of a month.

Instead, he gets curled across the floor by his tail ;)

I've been using this yogurt maker. It works quite well!

http://www.amazon.com/Deni-5600-1-Quart-Electric-Yogurt/dp/B000I6PHV8/ref=sr_1_8?ie=UTF8&qid=1304476468&sr=8-8

I heat the milk in a 4 cup pyrex measuring cup, mix the starter into that, then pour into the six jars for incubation.

Summer is the best time for yogurt, because of summer fruit.

Thought of getting a yogurt maker, but we've just switched from a fairly large house to a fairly small city apartment. Counter space is at a premium ;)

And definitely agree on the fruit thing! :9

Hm...you could probably do a 1-quart batch, but at that point, your starter is 1/8 of your actual product ;)

What's the purpose of the nonfat dry milk?

Seems to give it a bit more texture - I guess it's supposed to increase the carbs for the bacteria to eat and the protein content, without increasing the fat or liquid volume. May do another batch without, now that I've got the process down, and see how it differs!

To let all the I-131 decay away, of course.
