Does anyone have an apple pie recipe that is the THE BEST APPLE PIE in the world? Apple pie is my favorite pie and every year I'm faced with these ingrates who prefer pumpkin or chiffon. My only job for my sister's dinner on Friday is to bring an apple pie and I'm looking for the King of Apple Pie recipes. Normally I do a standard double pastry ( Read more... )

I am partial to berry-filled pies myself. (Oooh, and I love it when you put an egg wash over the top crust and sprinkle unrefined sugar (I don't remember what it's called-- the raw sugar?) on top. Ugh the crust is where it's at.)

TURBINADO SUGAR? Ugh I love crust but a crust is in no way a substitute for delicious filling. Ugh I love apples. I relish making apple pie because then I have a whole huge pile of delicious apple skins that I can bake into apple chips or munch on raw.

YES. THE STUFF I STEAL WHENEVER I'M IN A STARBUCKS.

My university loves to do freakish things with apples, what with Honeycrisps and the apples that taste like sugarcanes. (I like apples, but uncooked.)

Woooow, I think it is actually stamped on my face what I just read (and I try hard not to be obvious, reading it at work and all..).
"Andrew attempts to pull one leg up to bracket Jesse on one side and there’s a moment of flailing where Jesse breaks away to laugh against Andrew cheek"
Oh boys :D Well I vote for you filling more prompts, mkey..

Ugh, the face you make when you're reading fic at work - I KNOW IT TOO WELL. I'm so happy you liked it! Basically all I want to do is fill all my own prompts, so I think I' going to restrain myself from commenting on the meme before I create a whole page of just me answering myself and concentrate on writing fic.

Sdkfjgfdkjg this was like. Really, really, great. Woah. You're amazing.
I don't know you, I'm kind of a lurker, BUT I am a huge fan of pie. I was actually thinking of it all today. Um, if you still need a recipe:

(This is all for one pie, so adjust as needed.)

Crust:
1/3 cup butter
1 cup flour
1/2 tsp salt

Make sure the butter is warm. Mix in with other stuff, add 2-3 tbsp of water as you see fit. Mix until it gets to dough-like consistency. When it is, roll it out.

Filling:
7-8 apples (Golden delicious works best)
1/3 cup flour
2 cups sugar
1 tsp cinnamon

Slice, peel, core apples and mix with the rest.

Crumb Crust
(Or just do another regular crust if you like it that way)

1/2 cup flour
1/4 cup butter
1/4 cup sugar

Mix all until it just gets crumbly. Sprinkle liberally on the top of the pie.

If frozen, cook at 425 for 20 minutes, then switch to 350 for an additional 40 minutes. If unfrozen, probably 425 for 20 then 350 for maybe another 20-30.

Oh, thank you for the recipe!! I've never seen a crust that calls for warm butter though - well, once I made a lemon tart where you melted the butter beforehand I suppose - what is the texture like?

And I'm so happy you liked the fic! Thanks for commenting.
