Challenge Guidelines
Claiming Your Prompt Set
1) You must be a member and read the
Community Guidelines to participate in the challenge.
2) To claim a prompt set, please comment to this post by copying and pasting the number AND prompts you desire. (EXAMPLE: 99 - oasis, magical tent, cactus juice, wandering, dismay). The moderator will acknowledge your request, and your username will be added to the table. (Limit: One set of five themed prompts per member.)
3) Deadline: Wednesday, July 30, 2008 at 9:00 pm
EDT. We do not take late entries. If you cannot complete the challenge in time, inform us immediately so the prompt set can be reassigned.
Writing Your Five Drabbles
1) Each of your five drabbles must:
a) be het and romantic in nature
b) use a prompt from the set
c) be part of an overall theme
d) take place during a summertime holiday
e) be exactly 100 words - we will check (Link: Word Count Tips)
f) mention some magic (spell, potion, beast, item, etc.)
g) feature a canon wizard and a canon or original witch
(No repeat characters, Muggles, or Squibs. A wizard or witch can be used only once.)
2) Here's an example with five different wizards, five different witches, and one pairing per prompt:
prompts: 99 - oasis, magical tent, cactus juice, wandering, dismay
theme: lost in the desert
oasis: Draco/Pansy
magical tent: Ron/Cho
cactus juice: Remus/Hesta
wandering: Charlie/Tonks
dismay: Sirius/Rosmerta
ETA: You may write and post the drabbles in any order you want.
ETA: You may include background characters more than once; for instance, if the theme relies on their presence. (An event at Malfoy Manor, etc.)
3) All characters having sexual relations must be at least 18 years of age. No exceptions. Appropriate ratings and warnings must be applied. (Link:
Community Guidelines)
4) You must check for appropriate canon spellings/usage, grammar, and punctuation, including proper comma placement. Proof Witches will not be on duty for this quick drabble challenge; however, we do recommend having another author look over your drabbles. Drabbles with numerous and/or embarrassing mistakes will not be approved and will not be considered for an Enchanted Quill.
Posting Your Five Drabbles
1) Each drabble should be posted separately as soon as it is completed and well before the deadline. Ideally, members will post one or two drabbles per day. Don't wait until the last day to write and post all five of drabbles!
2) Use the title of your drabble ONLY as the subject of your post.
3) Always use the HTML text box option when 'posting an entry' at RTW. Attempting to use the 'rich text' box will cause template errors and result in a rejected submission. (Link:
Posting Tips with New Graphic!)
4) Use these conveniently coded templates for each of your five drabble posts:

6) Place all your explanations and recognitions in the Author's Notes section at the bottom of the template.
ETA: Authors of drabbles with lengthy Author's Notes will be asked to place them behind an LJ cut.
7) All submissions will be moderated in a reasonable amount of time. Ineligible drabbles will be rejected. Sometimes a drabble will be approved, but a Moderator Comment will be added asking the member to adjust a minor error. We expect complete cooperation. Invalid posts may be deleted by the moderators.
After Posting Your Five Drabbles
1) After posting at RTW, you may link or upload your drabbles to other LJs or archives. Please mention Romancing the Wizard romancingwizard.
2) Important: Character bashing is not allowed in drabbles or comments.

5) All questions should be directed to seaislewitch by commenting to this post, sending an LJ message, or by email (seaislewitch at livejournal dot com).
