During our last monthly evening with board games on May 21, a friend told me about a new shop called
pick'n'weight that sold
clothes by the kilogram.
Just some days ago, I had read about this kind of shop in the blog of
Gravelvet from the UK.
I asked my lolita friends
Rabbit Heart, teaspoonandcandy and
Vanilla if they had heard of it and if it was good.
Rabbit Heart and teaspoonandcandy had already visited the shops and recommended it,
so we spontaneously decided to go there together on June 26. There are two branches in my town, we selected the one that is close to the Japanese supermarkets
that we had visited together in
April. ^_^
We met at Isartor and went together as a group of four to the branch of
pick'n'weight "Im Tal".
The shop is big and packed with items, making it hard to walk inside. Clothes are arranged on metal hangers and sorted by colors.
Accessories like shoes and hats are put on top of the clothes rack and baskets with shawls are everywhere. There is also a department for men's clothes.
It smelled for "old clothes" in a negative way, maybe from moth balls? It was very warm inside the shop because they do not have air condition, only some fans.
The clothes all seemed to be in a good state and did not smell bad. They have a "Japan corner" with clothes from Japan and
another corner with "Trachten" (traditional Bavarian costumes).
Most of the shoes looked "worn out". And there were no plus sized clothes (XL and bigger), only S, M and some L.
Rabbit Heart found
two nice items, the rest of us did not find anything.
The next item on our "program" was visiting two Japanese supermarkets:
Feinkost Y. Suzuki and
Mikado Feinkost Y. Suzuki is a small shop that sells several kinds of tea and tea tools, fresh food like tofu, typical Japanese ingredients
like soy sauce, miso soup paste, spices, chopsticks, some drinks and used mangas and books.
One special thing is that they receive Japanese bakery items like melon pan and matcha cakes
from the bakery My Heart in Düsseldorf.
Mikado is bigger and has a bigger selection of items. They have refridgerators with Japanese ice cream and deep frozen gyoza,
a big selection of drinks (including lamune), soy sauce, miso soup, rice, noodles, instant noodles, curry, matcha tea, green tea and barley tea,
snacks, chocolate, house hold items, towels, and so on. Mikado still sells pearl jewelry.
Mikado started selling Onigiri (rice triangles with different fillings). I did not see them during our last visit in April.
I bought Kikkoman sesam dressing for salad. It was cheaper than written on the sticky label because you get 10% off each Saturday ^__^
We ate delicious Asian food at the restaurant
Ni House.
It was good that we had reserved a table because it got full later.
I ordered again the crunchy gyoza with the delicious sweet-sour sauce. As main dish, I ordered mie noodles with vegetables.
We also ordered sushi, miso soup,
Vietnamese rice paper rolls and papaya salad.
The waitress remembered us from our
first visit back in April ;)
The waitress impressed me a lot because after telling her that we wanted to pay separate, she came back with a bill for each of us and
had correctly listed our items and calculated the total amount. ;) Most restaurants book the food by table, not by guest, and
when you want to pay separate, the waiter comes with the looong receipt, sits with one guest after the other and
you have to tell everything that you ordered...
Vanilla had originally planned to celebrate her birthday with a party at her house
on June 16. Unfortunately, all the other guests except Rabbit Heart and me got ill and could not attend,
so Vanilla cancelled the party and moved it to today's meetup.
This is a glimpse on the food that she had
ordered for us:
(This picture was posted by Vanilla on facebook. She allowed me to use it on my blog.)
teaspoonandcandy was still ill, but we hope to see her soon.
We gave Vanilla our presents and chatted about private topics, job-related things and future meetups.
We hope that we can meet each other at least every two months ;)
Vanilla was so kind to take a picture of my outfit for me ;)
I went for a casual lolita look. I am not wearing a petticoat on purpose because we knew
that it would be difficult to navigating through the pick'n'weight shop with it.
