This was glorious, and I have always thought that Ibiki/Anko would be a fascinating pairing to write about. I love the way you portrayed them, especially all of Ibiki's questions in the dialogue--the ever vigilant interrogateur. Giving Anko the non-sequitors was the perfect touch.

I really enjoyed the tone of this - dark and poetic, but without being purple - the many loops and layers of history that are present in the narrative give it a depth that just reaches for the ol' heartstrings and tugs. Even so, the lack of out and out lyricism is nice (the “Watch it, Mitarashi. Alcohol’s making you maudlin” quip was perfect for the story and the two characters.)
In short? ♥.
