Ok nyc people. If a small group of us where to head up to lets say do some climbing in centeral park. What would be a cheap place to crash in. Like hotel ideas and such? Also, if we didn't drive...how long does the train take?

The Chinatown buses are probably cheaper and faster.

Only hotel I've ever stayed in up there is the New Yorker. Not "cheap" but clean. And big.

The Chinatown bus is definitely cheaper, but the train is probably just about as fast. It's only a couple hours, and is infinitely more comfortable!

Hotels in Manhattan are at least $100 a night. 6 years ago, the cheapest I found was $130. You can probably find cheaper if you're willing to look in the outer boroughs. I recommend Queens and Brooklyn.

Train is expensive but will get you from Baltimore to NYC in about 2.75 hours (if there are no delays...)

If you go outside of manhattan you might be able to get something cheaper than 100 dollars, or if you stay in a hostel... but expect a really ghetto experience at that price. XD

I don't recommend the bus if you want fast -- on weekends the horror stories of people taking 6 hours one way are common.

Do we really want to lug a bunch of crashpads on a bus or train though?
