The first. damn. time. I click on some whackjob mash up genderbent retardiculous fic instead of shuddering and scrolling past it, I get this. You've ruined me, woman. Ruined.

Feels more like a halfway than an ending, though. You're good enough to confirm they're into each other without saying it, and good enough to show Sherlock knowing what he's not ready to accept, but it needs a reveal. So clearly you need to keep writing. Clearly.

Consider it penance for ruining me. I'm going to be sifting through all manner of unspeakable fifth fic now that I know some of it won't give me brain-bleed.

This has been on my to-read list for ages, and I'm so glad I got to it! I absolutely loved Joanna's grandmother, for starters. And Joanna giddy on magic was adorable, no matter how old she was. I felt bad for kid!Sherlock, feeling abandoned, and then I felt bad for Joanna when Sherlock decided to forget about her. "Anthea" was kind of annoying with her condescension, but I liked how she challenged Joanna. And Sherlock and Joanna's relationship as adults is very nicely done, what with all the things they feel they shouldn't say unless asked. This fic is definitely being saved for rereading when I want a good AU. =)

This really is fantastic, and I hope hope hope that you continue it (also that I'm able to find it when you do; I'm an absolute idiot when it comes to livejournal). Lovely.

man i'm glad i saved this to read in one big go, i would be dying (as i am now) for the next bit! this is a rather excellent twisting of canon. i especially liked the dare i say, dreamlike quality to joanne's lessons with her grandmother. they read somewhat between a memory and a fable. can i ask who it was that visited joanne's grandmother at the beginning and gave her that letter? or is that a mystery for later on? :)

i was also rather happy to see anthea pop up in this with such a prominent role. she's a perfect mix of fantastically mysterious and fallible. do i dare hope for irene? or a little more molly hooper?

This was nothing short of fantastic and if you wrote a book I would throw money at it.
