So, David's first birthday was a few weeks ago. We had a fun little party for him during which he played with several other kids (or was played with by other kids, depending on your point of view) and ate almost an entire piece of carrot cake. I've posted photos from the party as well as some more formal pictures we took on his actual birthday.

It was most likely just being in a new place. M. gets that way sometimes when she's tired and she's 4.
I liked the big stack of books. :)
My boys had that hammer/nails toy.

Even at home he's started crying when I leave for work. I suppose he'll end up an introvert -- not like he really has any chance of being otherwise!
My co-workers had given me some money when David was born, and I really didn't know what to spend it on until this summer when we found these books. They span most of the sciences, as well as history and literature and that sort of social studies stuff, and they have ideas for projects and experiments and things. It'll be a while before he really appreciates them, and Michael and I both have things along the same lines from when we were his age, but we just couldn't resist.
David hasn't figured out the hammer and nails thing yet. He plays with the hammer, and presses in the nails with his hands. He's actually very gentle most of the time; he hits things if he can make noise doing so, but even then not very hard. It's just as well -- the cats are extremely patient with him, but might not be if he were less careful with them.

Hehehe Sounds like fun. B. has decided that he's going to be a biologist or geologist. His current interest is rock collecting.
Very cute. Very unlike my boys.

You and M are looking great, too.

Thanks -- I still feel pudgy, though. I wish there were a Ceili group in the area!

Teething sucks. Good thing is it doesn't last that long. Hope he feels better soon.
