June 11
...CHICAGO... June 11, 1954: A STRONG HEAT WAVE HIT MUCH OF NORTHERN ILLINOIS. CHICAGO HAD A HIGH TEMPERATURE OF 97 DEGREES...STARTING AN ELEVEN-DAY RUN WITH TEMPERATURES 90 DEGREES OR HIGHER. TWO HIGH TEMPERATURE RECORDS WERE SET DURING THE ELEVEN DAY PERIOD.

Reflections on becoming fifty-six years old. )

The happiest of non-milestone birthdays to you! I'm sure the earth was just making sure it could compete with you, ya know. ;-)

Beets and cottage cheese sounds yummy. Enjoy!

What's wrong with beets and cottage cheese? And happy birthday, by the way.

I'm only about 4 years behind you. I'll be 52 in August. I remember reading an archive of the LA Times, and there was an announcement in it on the day I was born, about classes on the Dead Sea Scrolls starting somewhere. I remember being jealous of classmates who actually had birthdays during the school year. One April, in High School, I told the front office it was my birthday, just so they'd announce it, like they did with other birthdays. :3

A few years later, in college, my birthday was actually the first day of classes. No announcemetns there.

Have a wonderful day.

And bask in the head-turning that occurs because you dare to be different. (Although I'd probably be trying not to gag at seeing you eating beets & cottage cheese--not faves of mine--instead of turning my head to see what you were eating.)

Happy Birthday, friend Rose.
