So, no kids, no Sunday dinner to cook opens up free time and plans are to use that driving around and taking pictures of the gorgeous trees. Missouri has some the most spectacular fall views and there are a number of trees I visit every year just to see their fancy foliage

Hope you had better luck with trees than we did. Many of them here have already dropped their leaves, especially the red maples which I love. It has been very dry here this fall.

At least I got to see the trees a bit earlier, just didn't get any pics this time around. Waiting for the second Sugar Maple in my yard to turn. Weird, one has already dropped it's leaves before the other one turns and they appear to be the same species. Hmmm.. I didn't plant them so don't know for sure.

I love gardening barefoot...but I am often out very early and the mosquitos just ate up my feet this year.

We used to have a poison ivy covered tree that I used to go view (from a safe distance!) every fall as well. The leaves always turned a brilliant fuchsia red.
The owners finally had the tree cut down--I do pity whoever did the work because they must have broken out afterwards.
