Never mind.

So. Never mind about coming to the show next week. Our lead actor took it upon himself to get smashed last Friday night and has now been suspended. I'll spare you lot the details, especially since I know very little myself. Just know that there's no way we can perform next week. We'll see what Cate decides to do about One-Act ( Read more... )

Nobody seems to want to cast understudies anymore. And hey, didn't you memorize another 20 or so parts for the Tony and Cleo parody at GARF? Get a little "the show must go on" attitude going on over there and kick some butts into action! One man does not make a show... unless it's a one-man show... never mind, you get the point! This kid showing off and poisoning his liver and brain in such a banal act of "rebellion" (which at this point in history is anything but, and even reinforces social norms and expectations) shouldn't be enough to negate the exta-curricular efforts of others. Besides, high school is about teaching important lessons about life and the real world, and this one can either be "sometimes you're working in a team where an important person becomes unavailable, and you have to work hard to take up the slack" or "crap happens and there's nothing you can do about it, so just be sad and don't try." I prefer the former to the latter 9 times out of 10.

Gotta say, I'm with him on this one. Screw that idiot and show them what *real* actors can do ^_^

Amen, brother! I could not have said it better myself.

Get out there and show them what it takes to be a REAL actor in the REAL world of theatre.

And why DON'T they cast understudies anymore? That makes no sense at all!

Which reminds me, lovely_fatima and I both went in and marathon crammed everything we needed for our "Shakespeare's Greatest Hits" show for Student Daze in ONE NIGHT of rehearsal (out of necessity), and we kicked some ass on that show (Caroline even commented that it was the best she'd seen it done when she dropped by to watch)! It can be done!
