It is very depressing on the equator when it is raining everyday. I really lost the patience for absurdity. I yell at taxi drivers when they look at me and double the price. Happy Birthday to me!!! My friends are making me lunch. I am grading papers and teaching tonight. It should be a great day. Hopefully my family will be able to contact me. The cell service in Benin was discontinued due to corruption... so contact has been difficult.

I think I have the best teaching job ever. The Vice Director called me late Friday night to tell me I need to write a test for my course. I have only finished teaching 12 out of the required 40 hours... and now I can test on all of it without teaching the remaining 28 hours. Is work supposed to be this easy? Rain has started falling again. I think I will like having 4 seasons again.

I saw a fou in the street with massive problems. (Visible hernia) She will probably die withing the next few days... Unfortunately there is no one to call to go help her, no med care, no nothing. Disheartening.

Going to see village life for a while.. and yes I am still alive. :)

Back in Benin and it is not so hot... cold spell here. Can I hear an Amen? I was worried about going from negative to positive degrees but it is not so bad... nor was the visit to the pool yesterday... actually too cold to get in the water.

I'm headed back to West Africa at the end of the week to finish out the year there. It has been a relaxing but definately surreal vacation. It still seems strange every day when I can turn on the water and drink it out of the tap. It is a surreal experience to be in the States again. I just keep thinking there is something mentally wrong with all the people complaining that they dont have enough... and since when do housewives need to drive Hummers around????!!!!

Happy to be home, but my eyesight is just too different to mesh at this point in time.
