The parent company (LIN TV) of the Austin NBC affiliate (KXAN) wants the cable company (Time Warner) to pay for the signal. The same signal that you can get for free from an antenna.

Little Ubuntu problem..
It installed fine, but won't boot. Ubuntu 8.04, "Hardy" Heron. Booted to the live CD, ran through the installer, but upon the first attempt to boot to the hard drive alone, it dropped to some "BusyBox" command line after spinning at the Ubuntu logo screen with the orange bar that bounces back and forth.

Computer support for Bastrop ISD. Actually, since I'll be doing mostly laptop support, it'll be a lot like my current job. Different toys, different userbase, different location, but better pay (even after factoring in gas) and less red tape (I hope). -
COUPONS!!!!!!!!!!
Ok, so I'm a coupon addict. I don't necessarily go to the grocery store with a book of them, but I do often let coupons influence my choice of restaurant.
Well, Google (care of Download Squad) is now feeding the addiction with their Coupon Search. Give it a location, it'll spit out the closest coupons to that location via Google Maps.

frustration
Lately it seems that with everything I try to do with computers, there's always one piece that keeps it from working.
I have an ATI TV USB device that I want to plug into a computer so that it can record TV shows and be a better VCR for us.- It runs on my Windows XP desktop, but that PC keeps shutting down due to its power supply being incompatible ( Read more... )

Morning update from A-Kon
We all got our badges. (yay)
It seems that we also lucked out with getting a room in the South tower.
It seems that most of the convention is in the North tower, and that their elevators take 15 minutes or more to wait on. The South tower, on the other hand, only takes about 5 minutes to wait on. Also, N8 says that our room, in general, is nicer ( Read more... ) -
Finally at A-Kon
Or at least at the hotel of the anime convention.
We left at about 1:45pm, and have just gotten to our room at 7:15pm.
Items that slowed us down:- Stopped by church for Jen to drop off teaching materials and/or pick up check
- Stopped at Wendy's for lunch
- Drove through ATM to deposit paycheck
- Stopped just south of Waco for rest room & ice for ice chest
