It's been so long since I've played the visual novel that I don't feel confident giving tips about her, but have you read Fate/Zero? While the visual novel does reference her childhood, I don't remember it being quite as detailed as the light novel. It might give you a bit more insight into why Sakura is the way she is to learn about her birth family as well as her adopted "family" and what each did to her, as well as the role that one character played in her life, though she was likely too young to remember him much.

Fate/Zero is also a great read for any Fate fan, but. You can find what's available in English here, thanks to Baka-Tsuki.

Firstly, you should nail down just when are you deciding your Sakura from, as it makes the world of difference ( ... )

Shy/Socially Inept Characters anonymous July 25 2009, 17:20:40 UTC
The kind that don't want to talk to many people. How do you get them to interact, especially in journal-based games? Any advice in general is good, too.

Post often. Abuse those private/hackable tags with interesting things under them. Some characters aren't up to coming to other people for interactions, so make them come to you.

I have difficulty with that type of character, but it can also help to throw them into situations where they're FORCED to interact, or that other people would be interested in. Jump on any events that come along in your game, especially if they involve people being forced to work together!

Alternatively, you can find people with really outgoing, friendly, tough-to-discourage characters and ask them to give you a hand. There are a few characters in every game who will hunt down and FORCIBLY BEFRIEND the shy, socially inept types! And once they've done that, you have an excuse for your character to get involved with THEIR friend groups, which are usually immense and varied.

Good luck, anon!

Know that even the most quiet of people will have something to say about what's going on; they'll just be more quiet about it.

Make sure her screen name isn't a tranny joke.

Obviously, given the fact that the one game where she shows up has yet to be translated, you're going to have voice discrepancies. The only thing I can think to recommend is that you find a solid voice for her and stick to it. It shouldn't be too formal, but there's a lot of slang and aphorisms that she logically wouldn't know about and wouldn't be using.

Now, for personality! In a lot of ways, Xion seems to be a lot like Roxas. She very uncertain about her own existence and the meaning thereof - even more so than other Nobodies because she doesn't even have human memories to back her up. It does not mean she's spineless or shy, just that she's not sure of much; it's a fine distinction to make. So, for example, it'd make sense for her to have an underdeveloped morality / philosophy of life. But please don't have her stammering all over the place or tiny-fonting every other sentence ( ... )

Not that I know many games that would accept her.

Mid-first game, specifically, but general advice is good as well.
