Yes, my native language is Russian although I grew up in Kiev/Ukraine. Actually I understand Ukrainian but unfortunately cannot speak it anymore. Russian is similar to Ukrainian maybe just as Dutch is similar to German. Russians don't quite understand Ukrainian and find that language very funny.
