Short Stories

Both of the stories we were assigned to read for class were kind of depressing. I did find “Happy Endings” somewhat enjoyable because who doesn’t have a bad relationship? I totally understand that connection your talking about with you sisters I have the same thing with my older brother, its like we read each others minds.haha

Yes it is very important to have communication in our relationships. When there is a lack of it, things are often misunderstood or taken the wrong way. It's sad because I think we as a society are losing our communication skills because of texting. It's now easier to shoot of a message full of words than it is to call someone. Emoticons help, but it still can't match an in person conversation.

I thought this story was sad too :( I also thought it was interesting how the family saw "giving in" to an argument as a good thing because it helped them avoid conflict. I think there is definitely a connection between peoples' ability to deal with conflict and their ability to effectively communicate.

I really didn't enjoy this story either. A family should be happy and yet, I saw so much truth to his words. I think for me though, it was because I didn't like that I see myself doing some of the things that he was talking about. Like the on purpose silence. I have done that many times and could definately use some work on my communication skills too.

i think that the short story paper was more of my least favorite paper period.
