So I'm sitting here reading Paul Pope's blog for the first time (never really considered his work for any significant period before this) and I find myself making a realization about myself.

Well not all of our voices are Shakespearian in origin. I know half the time my voice is a mix of anime and MST3K peppered here and there with Doctor Who.

I noticed that some artists seem to think that if they don't talk head and shoulders above "the norm" that they aren't special. Of course they really aren't, but if it makes them feel better about their station in life, hey more power to em. I doubt it's the case with all of them, but some just thing "oh if I write with big words, people will be impressed" which is a nice notion, but half of them don't even know what the big words really mean ( ... )

A voice does not have to be wordy or "cosmopolitan" to be distinctive. I give you a review of the upcoming movie 300 I was recently made aware of:

Tell me that isn't some of the most beautiful writing ever.

In addition: the very fact that you know how to accurately use the word "cosmopolitan" is evidence that you aren't as verbally outclassed as you seem to think...
