Actaully the fast food chains aren't trying to capitalize on lent, they are trying to make sure everyone knows that they don't have to give up fast food for lent. If people give up fast food for lent they might not come back after lent, and fast food chains can't have that.

I was a bit unclear on my meaning. I think it is great that so many fast food places do offer alternatives so that people can enjoy eating out even during lent but what I don't understand is the mass proportions. I guess my mind set is more on fasting. I am not saying that people should fast it is a personal choice but if you are choosing not to eat meat on fridays or whatever then don't go out and eat a huge plate of fancy sea food. Moderation is my thought. Like having a nice fish sandwich from a fast food place is a nice alternative...But stuffing yourself silly just seems a bit odd. And the advertisements get me sometimes. I am mostly thinking about things like Red Lobster and Buffets.
