Lately it feels as though I am living a sort of Waking Life. I strike up conversations with strangers and talk turns down many varied paths. Lately, because of the Popul Vuh, conversations have structured themselves around literature, anthropology and religion - though they have easily wandered into physics and math. I love the Popul Vuh. One of my most favorite pieces that we studied in Latino Lit. class. I tell it as a bedtime story, in Spanish, to kids I babysit and even my boyfriend. He speaks enough French that he gets the jist.
How's New York? I hope you're adjusting well and finding your place.
Sorry to hear about your friend with cancer. I think it's affected the lives of us all. It is the one thing I despise most.
Keep talking to strangers! They say we know everyone in the world, indirectly, through 6 friends.
