Canapes (with a higher accent) on the 'e', are finger foods made small enough so it's possible to put the whole piece into your mouth. You don't need a plate and you can still hold your champagne glass in one hand whilst keeping the other free. Eg. at a cocktail.

I'm learning alot more about food now that i'm working in a hotel.
