House of Blues show (and why you should never go there unless Rufus is playing)

Apr 30, 2009 14:19

I'm home from Anaheim in my crappy home in the Mojave desert. I'm going to put my report under a cut because it will probably be long and babbly (you don't have to read if you don't want)

One of the best times of my life )

I agree with you totally about Lucy/Martha. Not that I don't like Martha but 1. I don't hate men QUITE so much as she does and 2. yeah, sometimes it's just weird. I met Lucy when I saw Rufus at a solo concert in Delaware. We talked for like an hour about how she used to be a teacher, but then decided to go on tour with Rufus. I was like I'D DO THAT, TOO!

She was a teacher?! What a great surprise for me.

Yeah, elementary school, I think it was. She was totally sweet and did not say "Rufus" once. She just called him "HIM". As in "HE will not be coming up to sign autographs, so you should go wait by my car." So I did!

I just can't understand... WHY THIS MAN STILL HASN'T HAD HIS OWN TV SHOW?

I agree with you about Lucy and Martha. Lucy was just downright charming last night and she sang beautifully. She completely won me over last night and I'll be getting her album.

I also agree that the House of Blues in Anaheim is probably the worst venue for a concert ... ever. I've been to numerous shows there and Rufus is the only concert that I've ever really been content to go to there. Usually it's a mess and their general admission is probably the worst. I stayed off to the left side near the stairs, near the stage and I was very comfortable there. You know, the shouts were heard like the Hallelujah and when someone said "fuck yeah" which was pretty hilarious in context. But it wasn't that bad.

People speaking in the balcony area isn't surprising. It's so far from the stage that some people think that it isn't going to make much of a difference. I was downstairs and people were being shushed around me.

Really great set though, so fantastic.

Happy for you and your parents!
Hope someday I'll hear him in person but it sounds more realistic that I will go to America than he'll come to where I live. oh. :)

About beard. Up to the present Rufus looks to me like an adult man who's still getting older but with a boy face. Pretty scarry (or maybe it's just The Picture of Dorian Gray parallel in my mind... or something). So I think this beard really suits him. :))

Have you seen Rufus in L.A. before? I'd be more surprised if Loudon WASN'T there. He's always at the local shows unless he's on the road himself.

And hell, at least you got a seat. My pregnant self had to stand the whole time up on the top balcony. I mean, I was expecting it since the ticket said, "standing room only" right on there but it was inconvenient.

Oh, no, that wasn't me. I was right near her though. She had a seat! She is much more obviously pregnant than I am.
