&^%$ Programmers

A month ago I sent out an email to all developers: "Machine x is going to be turned off, and machine y is going to be turned on.  All programs that run on x will automatically move to y.  Please check your code to make sure this isn't a problem."  I wait a few days to confirm that *nobody* is going to reply (as expected), and then send out a second ( Read more... )

That programmer will NOT look at his code, having had you make it work for him and he will simply call you the morning after the next transition, complaining that YOU broke it again and that it's mission critical and must be fixed NOW.

You already know this. :)

So THAT's why I didn't get back until nearly 5...we stopped for food on the way home and I kept running into these hour long mires that dissolved for no readily apparent reason...not even any good flaming bits of flipped tractor trailers! Construction. Tch. If you find a better way home, let me know.

Also, good luck with programmers. They sound pesky.

Still researching alternate routes. For us, it looks like driving *through* Hartford may actually be an improvement. Then it's Masspike all the way to 128 to avoid I495. I drove through I495 last night and it was 1 lane most of the way. I'd have been happier if I'd actually seen any work being done...

Of course, once I find a nice route, this will help you ... not at all - you're too far west. Unless you want to spend the night in Nashua.
