that is a very hard decision to make.

In America I've found that the ability to go to work is a HUGE factor in the level of care. If I tell them that I'm in so much pain that I can't go to work then suddenly it's an emergency that requires a revisit in 3 days. If not...see you in May. so strange.

I have a woman in my practice who recently moved here from North Carolina - she is very confused about medicine up here.

You need to see your family doctor (or GP) before you can see any specialist. she is pregnanct and was wondering how she could make an appointment to see an obstetrician, when I told her - you don't need to - I can deliver your baby just fine!!!

yeah, Americans read about a new technique and immediately want it for everything. digital mammography? naw, don't just use it on the really high risk patients. we all want it RIGHT NOW! I mean, I'm sure in time that eventually everything will be digital but to expect the entire medical system to upgrade the second new technology is available? it's ridiculous. but no one will crack the whip on the American public. They keep trying stupid makeshift solutions.

Our set up is definitely not perfect either - we have long wait times to see specialists... since we are short doctors of all kinds (some wind up in the US for the bigger $$$).

I think medicine is one of those areas that no one will ever be completely happy with - it seems that there is always something that can be improved upon.
