yeah - u of i insurance was another option - but we are actually paying less in the long run to get independent insurance (health aliance). we calculated it out, and its a better value, not by much, but still.
with health aliance we are paying a premium of 131 a month, but we have no deductable and a 90/10 copay.
with u of i insurance, we have to pay 432 upfront for Each semester (fall, spring, and summer) and then plus a 150 deductable for the year and they only cover 80%...so, even though they cover well-baby care, you still have to pay for it...ugg.
yeah i know the u of i isn't the greatest, i was just working in the student insurance office there for awhile.
grad student insurance here is crap. i'm taking a huge chunk of my budget to pay for blue cross medical/dental...but at least i can see a real doctor & go to the dentist for the first time in 3 years.
