It's so neat to hear the story and the whole timeline :) And interesting that you were falling asleep between contractions... :)

I actually got on live journal to leave you a message saying NEED BIRTH STORY STAT!! But you already took care of that! They used the vacuum on Julian too and my dad took pictures of the blood that splattered on the ceiling from the suctioning. Gross and awesome and gross some more.

How is breastfeeding going? Need some lactation cookies? : )

breastfeeding is going great so far. i am a bit disappointed though - i was able to get him to latch great at the hospital, but as soon as my milk started coming in, i had to resort back to the damn nipple shield. so, looks like we will be using that again, at least for the next couple of weeks. lactation consultant thinks it likely that i can get him off of the shield after his muscles get a bit stronger and after my engorgement goes down some.

although cookies would be marvelous, i actually have (and also had with Mary) an overproduction problem. so, i dont need any sort of cookies that are going to make me make MORE milk! yikes. thinking about starting to pump soon to store up some extra stock for day care.

When you are engorged so latching on is hard, try expressing a little milk first and he will be able to latch on better. Since that will also have made your milk let down, it will come out with less effort for him so he won't need to suck as hard.

You can also pump/express a little first and freeze it to have the same effect.

I am so glad everything went well.

Nutti Mutti

Thanks for the well-wishes! I am also extremely relieved about the VBAC. every day that goes by, it is obvious to me that the c-section recovery was much longer and more painful and stressful that the recovery from the vaginal delivery. much relieved.

I'm so glad baby Cal is here safe and sound and that you sound like you're recovering well. Congratulations again, and I hope he continues to be a good sleeper! Can't wait to see him in person!

Love, Melinda
