I like to think that my friends and I, at least the one I count among the sort of inner circle of moderate trust to complete trust, pride ourselves on being a sort of step above what the media or general public would consider kids of our age.

I wrote a poem for class. It's semi-autobiographical
Petrichor
A little girl makes a list of things
she wants to accomplish
by the time she is a grown-up.
She uses red crayons
and glitter. The list is on blue
construction paper and laminated
in the art room while no one
is looking. Time passes,
and the little girl is twelve.
The school nurse tells her she
has become a woman, and she cries
