Sometimes tragedies are what bring us together and sometimes tragedies can tear us apart. I'm glad that this experience brought you together, at least for that brief moment in time.

PS, I agree that no man with a Kermit tattoo could be bad.

I really appreciate the kind words! Admittedly, though, this is a fictional story, even if so many of the details are based on real-life events.

I may have convinced myself to get a Kermit tattoo in the future, though. Maybe.

I loved this! Great entry. I suspected partway down that June could be a pet, but it didn't end up taking me out of the story. It's obvious how much a part of the family she was.

It was funny, because I didn't originally intend to have June's identity be hidden for so long, but as I wrote the story, it just didn't seem important to mention it until the latter half.

While this was a fictional piece, its most certainly grounded in reality, as the death of a longtime family pet has been more distressing to me than the death of an extended family member.
