One real advantage would be knowing how old the coffee was, since you could always look at the timestamp for when the coffee was started (when ingredients were added to the machine).
having gone in, poured myself a cup of coffee while thinking it was hot, and taking an "it's hot coffee" big sip, only to find it cold and left over from the night before, I can agree 100% with this -- I'll be sure to make it keep track of the last time it thinks coffee was made.
I've still got to order the flex sensor and see how accurate it is, it'll be pretty easy to avoid signal bounce by averaging over a few seconds, but I'm really hoping that I get to have it estimate the amount made and amount currently available.
