*hugs* There has been so much darkness this past weekend, but at the same time people have stepped up and there has been so much actual action and goodness too. From what the ACLU has said they have had a ton of donations this weekend.
That gives me hope as does the fact that DJT's approval rating fell 8 points before the ban.
But it is going to be messy before it gets better. I'm more worried about Pence because he is just as bad as is congress and they are more insidious. In comparison they will look normal and it will be easy for people to go back to being complacent.
At least some of the resistance folks are aware of that danger - in fact, some have said that they prefer Trump to Pence, because he's so polarizing and incompetent. I don't think any President has managed to turn the nation against him so fast in all of American history.
I hope that once Trump is out of the way, the people who are resisting right now take a look at what Congress has been up to and head to the polls in two years with fire in their eyes and rage in their bellies. We'll see. It's hard to sustain outrage that long.
I hope so. I would very much like to either see the Dems win big in 2018 or a new party come up (possibly the less-corporate faction of the Dems might split off?) It's a volatile situation right now and both parties are shaken, which gives some chance for a grassroots moderate/progressive party to step into the schism and provide some unifying force... but I'm not holding my breath, since there's rarely been more than two main parties since the country was established.
Either way, if the people realize what the Repubs have been up to, there is a chance that they could implode, leaving the field open for a new party, because they are well and truly burning bridges left and right at this point.
