I know that music that resonates with me pretty much does so forever. The albums I talked abut still evoke the same feelings in me now that they did at the time, so I'd say desensitization might be difficult.

It almost made my list to, albeit for very different reasons. I'm almost needing a second list for all the ones that didn't quite make my first list.
