There will be more unusual bits coming up. The OP wanted world-building, and I'm giving him/her world-building!

Oh this is brilliant! I just found it and I'm having so much fun! I can't wait for the next chapter. Wolf!Sherlock is adorable, and so are John's reactions. He reacts like a person who genuinely doesn't know, rather than one who has a phobia, for which I am grateful. <3

I'm so happy you like it. There is a lot of world-building that will be happening throughout the story, and one of the aspects of the "world" are the social attitudes towards lycans, which is very similar to how people reacted (and still react) to people with leprosy, other medical conditions, HIV/AIDS, etc.

I wrote John as having some of those stereotypes about lycans, but learning to adjust his perception and his worldviews. He is learning.

I just found this! There's so much world-building going on, I love it. The food, the habits, the perception/stereotype surrounding people with this condition(John's reactions/upbringing) - Mycroft's entire history/background speech was probably my favorite. Of course, I'm enjoying the idea of tiny baby Sherlock in human and wolf form as well. I'm very excited to see where you go with this. I don't know what I want more of: details on the actual world around them or John and Sherlock.

...Both. Both is good. Ha!

I am so happy you like my efforts in world-building. I am absolutely open to suggestions, actually. I am not to sure how to incorporate more baby/cub stories, because that was one of my favorite parts, as well. I find myself actually a little overwhelmed at picking out what to world-build upon. There are so many areas to go into. And of course, I have been thinking specifically on how to world-build in a way that can make things happen in the John/Sherlock department.

Hmm, I like the way you put that: metaphorical and literal sniffing. I will have to find a way to do more with that.
