I snicker at your friend's failure, particularly on the bragging part. But, aww! This makes me wish I were over there to assist (or become symbiotic because if my friends were that cool I'd be under the same contact terms, so it'd be mutually beneficial).
(Oh yes, and don't be freaked out by this random lj stalking, I'm mamelakazam!.)
The "Long Table" is an extremely old (early 1990s at least) and venerable institution, a classic example of a ship-of-athens. As seniors leave freshmen arrive, with consistency in the middle, and thus the table is the same in one respect, if not another, as it was when it was first begat. My freshman year the elders of the table were the last of the Old Guard of Nerds (who graduated 2002-2004), and even now the descendants of the Old Guard linger. You know me, and I know Amy Falk, and she knows Doug and Tracy and Jim, and so it goes on back into the ages of nerds past.

Well, retroactive good luck, as it is now Wednesday. I hope it went well, and that you feel better for meeting the challenge.
Good luck.
