I hate it when a politician decides to use scientific spending as an example of wasteful government spending. Mostly I hear we're "wasting" money on space science and NASA.

Which irritates the heck out of me.

And we need more study of the environment, not less, thank you very much. If you use the fact that there aren't any suitable studies on global warming, and then cut the studies that *are* being done... gah!

the last presidential election there was a statement made by the President that we'd be focusing on Mars by a certain year, and increasing funding for NASA.

I sent notes to ALL of the people running against him begging them not to take a stance of opposition. I got not one response that made any sense. They all of them were "glad to have you on board" emails, and I started to receive spam campaign literature. grrr.
