LJ Idol: Black Rainbow

Feb 06, 2022 19:41

The outer layer is bluish-gray. Cadet blue, Crayola called it. It's the usual place we reside. A soft place. Not too bright, no sharp edges. Indistinguishable from normality because it is normal for us. Joy can reach us here though. A quiet kind of joy, but still ( Read more... )

Gray definitely can be beautiful. I really enjoyed the way you walked through the emotions, the colors. Well done

Thanks! Moving between moods/colors can be an interesting process, even if it's not always the wisest thing to do.

Your descriptions are lovely. There is a matter-of-factness that is really endearing in this piece. It is something like surrender and acceptance. Those are things I am always practicing. I love the idea of sinking into the beauty of gray, the process of not just black and white, but the mix of both.

I'm working on the surrender and acceptance myself. Sometimes you just have to push the "but what if" aside and go with what is.

This was such a creative take on the prompt. Of course, even a black rainbow must have stripes, otherwise it's just a streak of black.

I really identified with this line: "It's a dull place where duty reigns supreme. "

I also really loved the hope in this line: "Joy can reach us here though."

Keep writing! I look forward to your next piece!

Thanks! The dull, duty filled place is a mood all by itself.

There is a fine balance to be aware of, isn't there? I used to think of balance as a destination, and the I started thinking of it as a dynamic process, like when I practice tree pose in yoga. There are always these attuned adjustments going on to make the pose sustainable. Some days are different than others.

Equanimity is a goal I strive for, but it's a journey like most things worth having.
