Because I've been asked a few times why I quit Tumblr...

@_@ I fully agree with you Sarah. Tumblr, while it's hilarious and all...it is ruining the little life I have. It's a nice place to meet some great and terrible people, but it's like I'm tumbling down to the depths of nothingness.

I'm happy for you with your decision! Hopefully I'll find my way out of tumblr or some alternative solution, but right now, I'm not quite ready to let it go. However I feel I'm getting somewhere with my mission to not go on there every other minute!

I think you're totally right.
I've found a number of cool blogs I follow on Tumblr and I still appreciate the fact that I find awesome art or photos or, for example, good anatomy references which I need from time to time. It's useful in a way, and this is the main reason I'm keeping it.
Then again, it does suck up a lot of time, and I really get mad at myself when I find myself scrolling down the dash full of kitties and gifs of characters I don't even know, eh ^^'
But then again, there are quotes I like to find, there are pieces of information I like sharing, there are the nice comics and fanarts, and so on. Besides, I like using it for my fanarts and sketches, sharing them and getting comments, so yeah.
Anyway, people can get seriously annoying on Tumblr, like they do on FB...except that Tumblr is supposed to be cooler XD
But indeed, it's very addicting, and I need to spend less time on it, ahah. ^^'

Yeah, I know what you mean. It was part of the reason why I waited so long before I got myself a Tumblr in the first place. I can't really say that I regret making one though, at least not yet. It's true that it does steal a lot of time if you're not careful, but I'm trying to limit myself to a maximum of ~15 minutes per day (which is quite a lot of time if all you do is reblog your friends' stuff, heh), and sometimes, like when you come home from work after a long day, it's nice to relax and calm down by doing something that requires zero brain activity. :P It's a bit like stress management, just like watching anime or drawing or whatever that makes you forget all rl thoughts for a while. It's very possible that I'll get tired of Tumblr sooner or later though -- it's true that there's not much point to much of what's going on there, and it's definitely not the same as interacting with people on LJ. Although I can see why artists would want to use it, as it's a pretty neat site for letting people see and spread your work. And it has ( ... )

Haha I will admit hipsters in general befuddle and annoy me so.....>o>
Your dislike of Tumblr is understandable. I would have avoided it as well if LJ weren't so dead (LJ I MISS THEE ;o;). And again, nothing wrong with your decision. I'm glad you managed to relinquish this hold Tumblr generally has on people, especially considering the negative effect it had on you.
