Ryxander's Rules for Sexy Women in Entertainment

OK, so much has been bandied about lately on the internet about the oversexualization of women in just about everything (but often comics), and I can no longer resist laying out my own opinions.

It's pretty simple, for me.  I have no problem with the fact that heterosexual boys like to look at scantily clad girls.  I have no problem with people ( Read more... )

Lol, I've been tormenting the husband for days with Escher Girls. He told me I've ruined comic books for him. He's gotten tired of it, but still horrified which is kinda funny (I'm so mean)

I'll show him another impossible torsion pose. He kinda waives it off. Stops. Grabs the screen and looks closer. Tilts his head... shakes his head and gives up in revulsion.

I don't read comics much, so I don't have many pictured women to think on, but even in regular writing this can be done well. Some of my favorite badass women are from RA Salvatores' books. I wanted to be Danica from the Cleric Quintet for years (still kinda do). She is never described as being scantily clad, but is rather sexy, passionate, and can break stones with her HEAD. How cool is she? The elven woman from that series (whose name I can't think of right now) is awesome, and I don't remember her ever being objectified.

Of course, one of the best sexy women in literature is Mercedes Thompson. If you haven't read the books about her, do it. She is sexy, intelligent, realistic and actually wears clothes (when she's not in coyote form, that is.)

I agree on the Katniss call too. I'm glad they gave her real clothes in the movie to follow the book.
