Ok friends-list. livejournal has created a new account level, called sponsored+. details here the long and short of it is you get extra features (but not as many as a paid account) in exchange for putting ads on your journal. now, i haven't yet seen a journal with ads, and that's one reason I'm writing this post ( Read more... )

personally, i hate ads. i hate that they are everywhere. it's whyu i'm switching to gmail from yahoo. i mean, i tend to only look at my friends page, as opposed to people's actual journals, though sometimes I do (to look at a group of recent posts, etc). so, well, do what you want, but i wouldn't / won't do it myself.

Well, i'm a paid account user, so i don't have to worry about ads, but the ads on LJ thing REALLY pisses me off. On lj news I saw some of the people who switched to the new level (I logged out to check because I was curious) and it seriously makes their journals look like crap. It feels like this is the first step in forcing ads all over the site.

I don't remember specific journals, but if you sift through this post: http://news.livejournal.com/91919.html, you can find users who say they are trying out the new option.

i was doing that -- I saw a few. I think I'll stay away from it for now, at least until they figure out a better way to integrate it into the layout. I didn't mind it at the bottom of the userinfos. meh. maybe when I have a job I'll just get a paid account.
