Chapter 19 “Dad.” Kibum greeted, smiling rather contentedly. “Still awake?”
Kevin had his evening free, and the younger asked if Kibum was all right with having dinner with him. Kevin warned Kibum against paying for the time, though happily agreeing to Kibum paying for the food. They then chatted over the food that Kevin had chosen, comfortably touching some personal topics once in a while.
The younger man decided to try a little bit of rice wine, saying he hadn’t consumed alcohol before but very curious. Kevin’s cheeks turned red before the second shot, already having fits of giggles that Kibum had to trick him repetitively that the bottle they bought was finished by him before they could leave.
Walking the clumsy Kevin back to the dormitory, the younger then gave him a quick peck on the cheek to thank the older for the food, shyly whispering for Kibum to have a good night. Chuckling at the alcohol-induced behaviour, with exchanging goodbyes following soon after, Kibum then took a short stroll back home.
Coming back from such a good time, of course he was smiling. In fact, he had been planning to get some more alcohol for the younger the next time just to see Kevin trip and fall, before whining for Kibum to pick him up, and then causing the cycle to repeat due to his shaky steps.
Kibum’s father, however, didn’t look that pleased. He only grunted slightly to acknowledge Kibum’s presence, switching off the television before getting off the couch quietly. He didn’t even tell the younger to sleep well nor spare him a glance, plainly moving to his own bedroom probably to sleep.
Kibum flinched at such a cold response, belatedly realising there was something wrong.
-
It had been a week since that night, and even thinking about it still amused Kibum. The younger would reach out his flailing hands to cover Kibum’s mouth, cheeks instantly turning into a deep shade of red, even though both knew exactly what he was going to say. Seeing such adorable reactions, Kibum decided he wouldn’t say how much of a turn on Kevin was that very night.
He would just keep teasing the younger for bursting into tears. “Heh.”
“Stop it!” Kevin pouted, folding his arms and looking out the window. Thinking about it right then, Kevin really wanted to throw his head against the wall and hide in any hole that would suck him in. How could he just cry from sexual frustration?
“But you were so cute.” Kibum cooed, reaching a hand out to pinch the younger’s cheeks, trying his very best to concentrate on the road. Kevin smacked his hand away, bottom lip jutting out while side-eyeing the older man. “Are you going to cry again?”
“Kim Kibum!” Kevin yelled, tugging the seatbelt angrily because he couldn’t just punch Kibum. “Argh!”
Laughing heartily, Kibum finally raised a hand as if surrendering to Kevin’s anger. Placing the hand on the steering wheel once more, he then glanced at Kevin’s scrunched up face and smiled. “All right, I’ll stop, I’ll stop.”
“But…where are we going?” Kevin asked, pout still evident on his features. The neighbourhood seems familiar, but the direction they were heading to seemed foreign to the younger man. They hadn’t been to any other places than shopping centres, the park, the hotel, but currently, they seemed to be entering a residential area.
Kibum kept his smile, eyes showing a different, serious glint. “You’ll see.”
-
“This is…” Kevin blinked, unbuckling his seatbelt but having no intentions of moving from his seat yet. The car had pulled up on a driveway belonging to the house he was currently looking at, and making a sensible guess, it would have to be Kibum’s house. “Your house?”
“Yeah.” Kibum nodded, unbuckling his own seatbelt before turning off the engine and then tugging out the car keys. He turned to Kevin with a small smile, realising the younger was still in confusion. Kibum turned back to look at his own house, trying to figure out what sort of confusion Kevin might have. “Not moving?”
“Why did you bring me to your house?” Kevin asked, rather nervous. “Are your parents in there?”
“My mother died years ago. My father should be inside.” Kibum mildly replied, ruffling Kevin’s hair. Maybe he wasn’t used to meeting the father of the patron he knew. Afterall, such things shouldn’t be common in his line of work. “Don’t worry, just follow my lead.”
“Okay.” Kevin unwillingly agreed, getting out of the car. When his two legs reached the floor, Kevin started having second thoughts. If he was Kibum’s father, he wouldn’t be pleased knowing Kibum brought some escort, well, basically a prostitute with a nicer name, home. Kevin paused, looking at his own clothing. He doesn’t usually dress skimpily, so if Kibum said he was a friend, he could actually pass off as one, no? “I’m your schoolmate currently, right? Do I have to take off my shoes outside? Do I address him as uncle? Is he scary?”
“Relax.” Kibum frowned subtly at his house, before smiling softly at the younger’s nervousness. Taking his hand, Kibum then led him forward, ignoring the resistance Kevin was putting up. “Relax.”
Kevin jerked his hand back, standing akimbo while frowning at Kibum. “Of course you could relax! That’s your father, not mine! Don’t forget that when I meet men his age, I throw myself onto them without a second thought! How would I know what to do now?”
Kevin anxiously checked his dressing, tugging the ends of his shirt smooth and started looking for something more interesting to do like wonder whether the grass on the stoned pathway were watered.
“Can we not go in?”
Kibum sighed, pulling the younger man into his embrace and then lifting Kevin’s face up. Crashing their lips together, Kibum eased the passion with a tongue gently trailing across Kevin’s lower lip, prodding into the younger’s mouth for access. Kevin parted his mouth obediently, moaning softly into the kiss, whimpering when Kibum pulled away not long after.
“Are you relaxed yet?”
Kevin took in a deep breath and let it out, feeling slightly giddy. He shook those thought away and managed a smile, following behind Kibum’s lead like a tamed kitten. Unlocking the door, Kibum then kicked off his shoes and entered casually. Kevin carefully slipped his feet out of his shoes, picking them up with his other hand that wasn’t held by Kibum and pressed his lips together while deciding where to place them. Spotting Kibum’s shoes, Kevin quickly left them there, his other hand already being tugged by the older man.
When Kevin straightened himself, he spotted the oldest man in the house looking at him, and then down to their linked hands. Kevin quickly shook Kibum’s hand away, nervously bowing politely.
“Hello-”
Kibum instantly reached for his hand again, grabbing the younger boy and then kissing him fiercely. With arms around the younger’s body, Kibum hugged tighter, a signal for Kevin to just kiss him back. Kevin didn’t understand, cursing Kibum for ruining his plans but obediently returning the passion anyway.
Kibum’s father looked away, sighing inaudibly, and all these were seen in Kibum’s eyes. Kibum then carried Kevin up in his arms, Kevin instinctively wrapping his legs around the older man to balance himself. What Kevin didn’t know was that while he had been closing his eyes to concentrate on the kiss, Kibum had been staring for any movements his father might have.
The oldest man only looked away, refusing to meet Kibum’s eyes.
Taking the stairs up to his bedroom, Kibum threw his father one last look before entering his room, shutting the door loudly. Locking the door with a hand while the other continued supporting Kevin’s weight, Kibum then laid Kevin down on his bed.
“Scream.”
Kevin blinked, slightly breathless from their lip lock a moment ago. He looked at Kibum’s face for confirmation, but the older man wasn’t looking at him, only staring daggers at the locked door.
“Just scream.” Kibum somewhat ordered, cracking his neck and then sitting down on his bed.
The younger man nodded, instantly opening his mouth to scream like he knew how to. Kibum mouthed something like “moan too”, and Kevin did as he was told, reminding himself that he was paid to do these funny things. Being used to faking his screams and moans, these sounds from Kevin were actually very convincing to those who didn’t know better.
Kevin tiredly hugged Kibum’s pillow, continuing his act while Kibum’s gaze never left the door. He started massaging his voice box but not stopping, then curiously watching Kibum.
What was he doing?
The younger of the two thought he heard knocks on the door, rather furious knocks, he might add. At this, Kevin instantly shut up, wondering what Kibum would do. Would he be scolded for stopping in his screams? It seemed like the most logical thing to do though, even if Kibum was supposedly touching him or something.
“Go away.” Kibum said, calmly looking at the door. Kevin sat up, hugging the pillow for more comfort. He hadn’t seen Kibum like that, had he? He always thought the caring Kibum he had seen, the one that might be rather strict when things don’t go his way, would be the kind of son that was on good relations with his father. Yet, the emotionless words he heard.
Kevin knew how his father would have reacted. His father would have hugged him tightly and asked if he did anything wrong, and if his favourite baby Kevin could forgive him. Kevin would have taken advantage of the situation and ask for some Belgium chocolates or the likes of it. Just thinking of this made him smile…he missed his father.
“Why did you bring someone home?” Kibum’s father asked, and there was a hint of desperateness in his voice. Kevin instantly knew he had left a bad impression. Pouting, he realised it wasn’t the right situation and swiftly managed his expression. Not that Kibum could tell, with his back facing the younger man. Was there a reason Kibum had for bringing him home? He didn’t seem like he was in the mood for sex, then why did he bring Kevin home?
To…provoke his father?
“Because I knew you wouldn’t like it. Dad, you promised you were going to support me.” Kibum stated in annoyance, a hint of rebel in his tone. Kevin could see Kibum’s eyes squinting, seemingly really pissed off. Kevin remained attentive, trying to pick out hints to piece together a guess of the situation.
“I didn’t know my promise meant you not coming home!” Kibum’s father yelled, before lowering his volume and sighing. As a last resort of sort, he gently called out. “Kibum…”
Kibum had been with him most of the time until late at night, last week even staying with him for four days. Did Kibum’s father mean Kibum’s action of buying his services? So he knew Kibum had been buying sex outside?
Kevin blinked furiously.
What?
Kevin looked at Kibum’s back with pursed lips, having something to say but deciding the situation called for him to shut up. They were indirectly talking about him, he should probably just listen.
“Stop being selfish, we made a deal, and there were all the terms and conditions attached to it and it’s not my fault you failed to see it.” Kibum replied, holding onto Kevin’s hand and pulling him down the bed. Kevin winced, for the first time feeling Kibum’s harshness. The older man had never pulled him so roughly before, but of course he didn’t seem like he had the mood to be gentle either. Kibum then unlocked the door and opened it, staring deadly at his father outside. “I’m done with my talk.”
“Kibum!” His father called out limply, Kibum already halfway down the stairs with Kevin struggling to keep up with the pace. Kibum slowed down, and Kevin could see that he was contemplating whether to stop or not. “Are you coming home for dinner? Or supper?”
“Sleep. Just go to sleep.” Kibum answered slightly unfeelingly, slipping into his shoes and waiting for Kevin to hurriedly wear his own pair before leaving the house without a goodbye.
Getting in the car and igniting the engine almost as if he was in a rush, Kibum then drove out of the driveway the second Kevin got in, speeding out the neighbourhood to the park that was special to Kevin. Kevin didn’t like the frown on Kibum’s face, noticing how tightly Kibum was holding onto the steering wheel.
Quietly, he placed his own hand over the hand closer to him, rubbing it gently. Kibum turned to him at the contact, while Kevin only smiled softly back.
“Thanks.” Kibum exhaled a deep breath, shaking his head before slowing down.
-
“You were mean.” Kevin whispered, the both of them lying down on the grass field while staring up at the night sky. “I’ve never seen you so mean.”
“I just don’t like people hiding things from me, especially thoughts and feelings, and then act the way they think I’d like them to act. If he didn’t like it, he should have told me right from the start and I’d probably try to work something out. He told me he was supportive of my decision.” Kibum said, and Kevin decided it was the first time he saw Kibum lose his cool. Even though he still looked calm. Kibum knew very well how hypocritical he sounded, but was too frustrated himself to actually care. “And then it turns out, he wasn’t.”
“I don’t really think anyone’s father would be as supportive as your father. Seems like you told him you’d be visiting a brothel? And I suppose he’s the one who gives you the money, yes? If such, then he’s probably the best out there already. No father would be as insane as yours to let his son go to a brothel and ruin his life.” Kevin rolled his eyes, and Kibum had been slightly surprised that he picked it out so quickly, so accurately. “And no one is as crazy as you to ruin your own life.”
Kibum kept silent, knowing Kevin would probably conclude that he’s right. He only stared back up at the sky and let out a long sigh. He didn’t mean to be on bad terms with his father. He loved his father, was thankful for all the years he had been nurturing Kibum and all, but if his own father couldn’t even speak truthfully, who was he going to trust in this world?
And no, Kibum can’t tell Kevin there’s something more behind the story, and that it wasn’t actually ruining his life. Maybe it was, but before he dies, he probably could save a handful of people in the same industry as Kevin. With all the knowledge he has now, and more that is to come, he could tell the world that things aren’t as it seems.
That there’s more to paid sex than just sex.
“I hope you feel better, anyhow.” Kevin sighed, turning to look at Kibum. Kibum gave a small smile, reaching for Kevin’s hand to give it a squeeze.
Was it just him, or was Kevin really dropping his guard far too low? Kibum felt guilty for the trust, yet also contented at the same time, deep down wishing they could move a step forth from their current relationship.
“Did I scare you?” The soft voice woke Kevin up from his temporary daze, the younger looking at Kibum’s calm face as if determining whether the older man did talked or not. Kibum smiled at the younger’s blank face, raising a hand to sweep the stray strand of fringe away from Kevin’s otherwise flawless face, waiting for his answer.
“A little.” Kevin nodded cutely, even raising his hand and pinching the air as if to show Kibum the extent. Kibum chuckled, an arm going behind Kevin’s head as if to cushion the younger from the field, before bending his arm and pulling Kevin closer. The younger, however, wasn’t done with his words. While resting on the comfortable arm, Kevin then nudged Kibum slightly and pointed to his arm. “And you dragged me out of your bed without telling me, and the sudden jerk made me think my arm was just going to fall off!”
“Sorry.” Kibum apologised, rubbing it as if soothing the non-existent pain. “Does it still hurt?”
“Well, no, but it did.” Kevin giggled, an arm sliding between Kibum’s body and the field, the other reaching over the older man’s chest to be clasped together. Kibum noticed his movements and readjusted his arms, one snaking around Kevin’s waist and the other then holding onto the thin arm across his chest. Rubbing his hand gently against Kevin’s cool skin, Kibum looked at the head of hair and took in the special Kevin’s scent.
Kevin lazily hugged Kibum’s body that was the average, comfortable size, humming softly as if to prove his content in staying this way, then slightly tilting his head upwards to look at Kibum. Was he still staring at the sky?
The older had been watching him already, apparently, with those soft eyes. Those dark orbs that were usually filled with some sort of intensity that makes Kevin giddy, now containing a sort of affection that could burn the younger man’s cheeks. Kevin bit his lower lip, shying away too quickly for Kibum not to raise a suspicious eyebrow. Kibum didn’t question, and Kevin didn’t speak, both just quietly enjoying the gentle night breeze.
And Kevin wasn’t sure, if the rhythm he felt against his arm was his own palpitating heart, or that Kibum felt the same tremors shaking his own. He was only thankful that the silence stayed with them, and no one was exposing the other for their trembling hearts, though Kevin had a nagging thought in his head that it was only himself that was mindlessly nervous.
It just felt right, the spaces of their bodies fitting so perfectly with each other. It didn’t matter that there were some small rocks here and there, because that didn’t spoil how relaxed the two felt.
Slowly, gently, they fell asleep on the field with each other in their arms.

I fell down! :(
Now I'm quite lame. (:P)
