This is the intro-ing bit so there's not much of other people, I'm sorry. I promise it wouldn't be like that for the other chapters. Had some intro-ing to do anyway.

Prologue

“Sorry for interrupting you, Mr Lee. The principal would like to see Kevin Woo.”

Everyone turned to the Kevin, who was furiously glaring at his worksheet. He took out a ruler and frowned as he made sure his ruler was perpendicular to the paper. Then, he drew a clean, straight line across, looking like he’d just cancelled something.

“Kevin? The principal wants to see you, hurry along now.” Mr Lee called out.

Kevin looked up and shook his head vigorously. “I can’t, I need to solve this question first.”

His classmates’ jaws literally dropped. So...question before principal?

“Erm...” Mr Lee furrowed his eyebrow in worry as he looked at the messenger who was impatiently waiting. “Later, Kevin. Go now, please?”

Kevin sighed as he stood up. He was about to leave his seat when he suddenly squealed. “I KNOW HOW TO DO THIS!”

Kevin ran up to the board and wrote his workings. “Is this right? No?”

“Calculation error. Remember to bring your calculator next time. But the workings are all correct, so run along.” Mr Lee smiled at his best student and signalled not-so-subtly for Kevin to leave with the principal’s messenger.

“I’ll bring it tomorrow, I promise.” Kevin smiled more to himself than the teacher, and bowed as he left the classroom with a very irritated messenger.

“Are you interested in losing weight?” Kevin asked, the innocent question turned offensive, as he trotted behind the messenger outside classrooms.

“I’m fine like that.” The man huffed grumpily.

“No, your body mass index- Ah, nevermind. But just so you know, walking faster will help you lead a healthier lifestyle.” Kevin shrugged, before overtaking the other man in three steps. “By the way, I know how to get to the principal’s office, so thank you but no thank you, I can walk myself there.”

He was really just trying to stall time.

-

“Good morning, Kevin.” The principal smiled.

“Good morning, Principal Choi.” Kevin bowed and stood uncomfortable as he surveyed the principal’s room.

“You can sit, and breathe properly.” In an elegant leather swivel chair, Principal Choi motioned for Kevin to take a seat before him, letting him choose to sit in any of the three simple wooden arm chairs.

Kevin then remembered to breathe. “Just that...I’ve never been called into a principal’s office.”

“Oh, that, yes. You’re a clean record student, obviously this meeting might seem as a shock...” The principal then sighed. “Um...you skipped a year, right?”

“Is that posing a problem? Is that why I’m called over? I don’t mind going back to my own year if that’s the issue.” Kevin quickly said, becoming more tensed about the principal’s hesitation to get to the point.

“No, no. Relax, I told you to breathe.” The principal took in a deep breath as an example. “Breathe.”

Kevin did as he was told, although he nearly forgot to breathe out. And so, he choked.

Principal Choi blinked and called for a packet of water for Kevin.

“Could you- Could you get to the point?” Kevin said as he coughed out his words.

“I know, but it’s quite hard to say these words.” The older man frowned as he nodded. “The thing is, you volunteered to be a studying partner, right?”

Kevin cocked his head to the side, wondering why that would cause him to end up in the principal’s office. Principal Choi stared at him expectantly, causing Kevin to remember that he had to give an answer. “Yes, I did. I don’t see how that’ll bring me here, though.”

“Patience, young man.” A warm smile, before he continued with the same serious expression he had worn. “The thing is...you’re the only one who signed up. But, we have a lot of students who need help.”

“Oh.”

“Therefore, I decided to discuss the details with you. I hope you don’t mind that I’m using your class time because I don’t know how else to get you here without interrupting your lunch period.” Principal Choi explained.

Kevin took a second to comprehend the information. So he has no faults? Wonderful. “No, I actually do mind. Physics is my worse subject and at the time, you told your messenger, who by the way is pretty grumpy, to bring me here. Thus, yes, I absolutely do mind.”

“Oh.” The man didn’t know how to reply to the sharp words, expecting polite sentences since that’s what he usually gets. He gathered his thoughts again, nodding a little subconsciously. “Physics is your worse subject? What’s your grade?”

“The grade is A, but I got a nine for my recent quiz. A mark was deducted from my assignment because I misread the question, which is annoying.” Kevin pouted slightly. “My percentage has thus dropped to 96.3%, I don’t really know how to save it with my horrible head for it.”

“Ninety...six percent?”

“No, it’s ninety six and three tenth. Please don’t lower my percentage any lower. It’s demoralizing.” Kevin sighed sadly.

“That’s...a good grade. But...if you say so, I’ll arrange for Mr Lee to have a make up lesson for you.”

Kevin smiled widely, as if he was on the top of the world. “Really? Thank you! I would love that so much!”

“Yes, but back to the topic. I was thinking if it was possible for you to teach two students, one more than you should have. I cut down the list to four students who really need help, and I thought you might want to choose your students according to whatever I have here.” A file was handed over to Kevin, who took it with immense curiousity.

“The thing about this students that differ from the rest is that they do want to study. Their teachers have all commented that they show interest in classes at least. The rest are just temperamental, at their rebellious age and what nots, which probably can be fixed with counselling. These four...they’re different, somehow our teachers are unable to teach them right. I hope you can make a difference, because I’ve heard a lot of compliments praising how you help your classmates.”

Kevin blushed, trying to focus on the details of the students instead. “Kim JinMi? She’s a senior...I can’t teach a senior...”

“Oh. I forgot to take that into consideration, sorry.” Principal Choi actually chuckled sheepishly. “Then we’re left with two in your year and one that is younger.”

“I think I’ll take the two in my year.” Kevin said, looking intently at the boy’s photo, the one he didn’t pick. Shin Dongho, a pretty cute boy. “I’m more confident with this year’s content because I think I’ve lost touch with past years’ ones.”

“Sure, that’ll be good too.” A contented smile. “Kevin, you have no idea what a lifesaver you are.”

“I hope this goes in my portfolio.” Kevin mumbled. The principal caught his words and chuckled with a nod.

“Yes, it definitely will.”

-

Kiseop looked at his surroundings, took it all in at once, and breathed out. That wasn’t so bad, one more time.

In-

WHY IS THERE A PUDDLE OF WATER THERE?! Kiseop ran for the mop and furiously mopped it away. His obsessive compulsive disorder was showing.

“Kiseop-ssi? Stop mopping, I’ll teach you how to complete orders. Be quick, lunch time is approaching.” The older woman smiled at Kiseop and beckoned for him to walk over.

“Yes! Coming~!” Kiseop replied brightly, before putting the mop in a safe corner and ran towards the older woman.

“Kiseop-ssi, you-”

“No, it’s okay, you can just call me Kiseop.” Kiseop smiled warmly, receiving a plate for the lady.

“Okay, Kiseop. First, you take a bowl of rice and put it into the plate like this.” His more experienced colleague said as she demonstrated the actions. “You do this before you attend to any customers because rice is the basic dish.”

“I got it.” Kiseop nodded and copied the older’s movements. “Is this okay?”

“Messy, but practice makes perfect so you’ll be fine soon.”

I promised to post this while doing NaNoWriMo, yep so here it is. The update is sort of delayed cause I wrote the songfic (in previous post) so I thought maybe I should delay this a little cause I don't have a lot of chapters in store XD I'm at 15k words for NaNoWriMo! 35k more *thinks I'm gonna die*

Slight preview, don't know if you guys bother though XD :

Alexander was really really scared. A seven month and two weeks old baby shouldn’t be put through such a scare, but he was. Now, crying his eyes out and wailing loudly, Alexander was scared.

Looking at the bed opposite where he is, Alexander recognised the person on it to be his mommy. Mommy was so pale, looking very fragile with eyes closed.
