You always write stories with the most interesting premises and then develop it into a wonderful story. I was not sure how this would turn out with a transgendered Sam but once I started reading, I had to keep going. Just how supportive Dean was even when his expectations were switched from brother supporting lesbian sister to brother supporting transgendered brother was wonderful and just reinforced why Sam thought his brother was awesome. Dean did everything he could to set up Sam for success (the school and the center) and in return, he finds something that is not hunting to do and Sam supports him as well. It was a superb angle on the brotherly relationship that never changed because Dean always knew who Sam was. Thumbs up on this story!
I feel more comfortable commenting here instead of AO3, so I really loved your fic! The concept was a brilliant idea because Dean would totally be the cool brother with it and Sam knowing from the get-go that he's in the wrong body (did I do that correctly). I find it more fun to learn about issues/topics that I'm not familiar with in fanfic instead so KUDOS TO YOU for finishing a great fic! Even though this covers AU!canon before Supernatural's first episode, I really would love to see a ficlet sequel in how Sam develops his relationship with Jessica. I was super happy that Dean also got a life outside of his priority to keep Sam safe and happy. :D I enjoy that you put research links in the masterpost too if the readers want to find out more about the topic. Can't wait to see more fics from you in the future! ^_^
It's certainly easier to see/read comments here rather than on AO3. Sam was born with the wrong sex, outwardly, so, yes, that would make his body wrong; his plumbing his all wrong. Fanfic is great, and all, but don't belive everything you see. This is the internet, after all. ;)
I have sort of ideas about what to do with Jess, but nothing really tangible. We'll see about timestamps.
I loved this! I really enjoyed reading about how Sam coped and worked through his experiences, and Dean was the best brother ever, of course. Sometimes it's nice to read about the guys getting their lives on track and managing to have the sort of happy ending they're not likely to get in canon, so this was a really refreshing read. Thanks for writing this!
I had serious reservations about a fic with a Transgender-Sam...And honestly, I have no knowledge at all about the subject.(I had to look up what those abbreviations meant)... besides what li'l I knew? I could not conceive merging with the Winchester-world we know
( ... )
I thought I hashed out all the abbreviations, but then I realised I'd forgotten to write out FtM (Female-to-Male), which I fixed just now. Were there any others? I've been working on this fic so long, I've become a bit blind where it's concerned. Regardless, I'm beyond glad that you chose to give this a chance anyway, and that you liked it.
Dean is smart; of course he is. He's just smart in different areas from Sam. After all, how many people can rebuild a car from scratch and make it work? Then you just need to add some "artistic license" ;)
I read a bit into the Air Force and, I'm not sure, but I think you don't have to fly to be part of it, but I'm not sure.
I can't get over how much I really like your way of reading my story. It's kind of amazing to see how different people read different reasons/reactions to the same text.
Thank you for reading, and for leaving this lovely comment. =)
just one more- LGBT... but I liked that I had to look it up, you know... it would have messed with the story's flow if you had to explain it, 'coz the characters are in-the-loop. Anyway, thanks!
