Well, I seem to have the library job. I got the call this morning from Mrs. G, who is damned tight-fisted when it comes to giving information out. I guess a million years of people asking where the Nora Roberts books are have taken their toll. I did manage to chip some info about the job from her and it's all (surprise, surprise) not nearly as

Hope everything goes well. Let us know.
Now it's too hot to keep typing up here, so I must retreat to the cooler downstairs climate, where my wife, my iced coffee, and a Wonder Woman DVD await...

I don't mind the job except for the clothes thing. And Mrs. G treats me like I'm 19 years old--which at my age I guess I should take as a compliment. But I don't.

Good luck. I'm glad you have options. And working in the library sounds pretty cool to me!

the joys of rewarding work? books all around you all day?
Hope there's compensations to go with the dress code.

Of course, I am wearing *jeans* today in my library, and ones with a hole in them no less, and no one will frown or even notice. Then again, this is a university library, where life is Not Like It Is In the Real World.
Although even at my branch library out in my neighborhood, the staff wear whatever they please, as far as I can tell. And I'm so glad they do.
Then again, this is Madison, Wisconsin. Mrs G would have a fit of apoplexy should she ever step into one of our librarious dens of iniquity.
But congrats on the job, although it's not your ideal one. Maybe it will Lead Somewhere.

Ha, Mrs. G called me today--on my day OFF--and asked if I could come in after all today. I told her I couldn't, and not only that, that I didn't think I could accept the job after all. This was after I'd emailed and talked to Mom quite a bit, and took her advice that the job was actually not much and probably not going to get better. Oh well, it was worth a try, and an interesting experience.
