Oh hey, I managed to transmit *my* reactions to the episode via fic to someone else!

No but seriously, that has been my exact reaction to the ep. Still trying to process. Attempting to do so by writing. Not sure if it's working. But thanks for reading! =)

Oh, heart-rending and beautiful work, Saathi. I think my brain is where yours is- I don't know if its possible, in larger terms, for me to process this series in any way but through Molly's and Lestrade's eyes, really.

awh, thank you. I feel like I was painting with a palette knife, here, all rough edges and none of the usual depth and delicacy I try to create, so hearing that you like this means a whole bunch.

But omgfeelings. I think you're right about needing a sense of remove, right now. Later I might tackle my John!POV headcanon, but not yet...

This is gorgeous. It feels very raw, which is the perfect choice, and I love that you've looked at this from Lestrade's point of view. And it's lovely that Molly knows but you don't ever hammer it home, it's just there, something for us to pick up on our own. Lovely, lovely.

Thanks! I couldn't have written this with any more finesse if I tried; 'raw' is definitely still my mental space re: the latest season of Sherlock, in many ways. And oh, Molly's been given so much more complexity than she seemed at first, it felt only fitting to bring a little of that in here...

Molly has been my favourite character for such a long time, so my absolute elation at her place in the last episode is slightly helping to counter the all-over-the-place-oh-god feeling from the rest of it. But seriously, ouch. Reichenbach, you hurt. People being wrongfully accused of lying is possibly one of the most upsetting things for me, period, so that almost hurts worse than the next three years of John's pain. Well, almost...

Molly has always had a special place in my heart, too (which is why I probably keep hooking her up with other characters, lol). And her having not only a bigger but an absolutely crucial role in the last ep was a pleasant surprise!

...amidst so many other feelings from that ep, yes. I can't untangle them all yet, but this fic is attempting to tease out a few tiny threads (the "Molly is awesome" and "Lestrade is in a terrible place" threads) out of the whole jumble. Eventually I'll be able to handle John's POV, but not yet, that's a task I cannot really process yet.

Well, you just converted me to that ship. ;)

Wonderfully done. Thank you for sharing!

\o/ Thanks for reading! I'm so glad you took the chance on a pairing you were previously uncertain about, lol. (although, seriously, Lestrade's reaction to Molly all dolled up for Christmas in Scandal was SPECTACULAR and more than enough fodder for shipping... Fall just gave me the catalyst to *write* it.)

Oh, look, my legs still work, he thinks with dawning hysteria.
This captures shock so well.

he can't feel the hole in his chest when her heel is digging into his back.
And this captures what comes after shock I think.

They both deserve a happy ending. Thanks for that.

I think I was processing my own reactions to the ep through this, and while I don't believe Sherlock is a real man who really died (because that's two lies in one statement), it still hit me hard.

So I tried to use use this fic cathartically (happy pairing and all) - if that lent any kind of realism to the story, then huzzah! Thanks for reading. :)
